Food Pantry Update July 2021

Little Food Pantry Updates

June brought us heat and we realized that the food goes quicker than usual.
Refrigeration is key to keeping things fresh.  Our volunteers are key to keeping the two outside refrigerators stocked.
We learned that the basement of the church can add a couple of weeks to our fresh veggies and fruits from expiring.

We take food from inside to outside every day as it is always being use.
If you want to help, please join one of our volunteers at their times.  They will appreciate it very much as they have being dining this work for almost a year.
Amazing.

A huge thanks to all of the helpers that come every week to do this:
Monday-        5 pm- Bonnie Cloyd
Tuesday-       5 pm- Terrie Landini
Wednesday- 12:30- Janet Davies, Shannon Edwards, Melinda Malloy
Thursday-     10 am- Dawn Hooper and Jeanne Tillman
Friday-            2 pm- Lynn Mitchell
Saturday-     10 am- Dan Mueller,

Renee Presler and Jan Swayne and Rose Paysnick
Sunday- 6 pm- Nick and Pepper
All day backup-  Gerald Alonzo, Deborah and John Hultgren and Rose Paysnick
A big thanks to our food donors too:  Second Harvest of Santa Cruz County (via San Agustin's in Scotts Valley, Grey Bears, West Valley Community Services, Mt. Bible, St. Julie Billiart Parish (San Jose) and Hunger at Home (San Jose).
How can you help?
1. Spread the word.
Our strawberry pickers are in the fields all day and can no longer come to us to pick up food so we are reaching out to others.
Please spread the word to everyone on the mountain that we are feeding folks 24/7.

2. Please bring food.  Drinks are needed during this hot weather.
Toiletries are always wanted.  Soaps for bath, hair, dishes and clothes, paper towels, toilet paper and toothbrushes and toothpaste all go quickly.
Oil, cheese, milk, butter and any other foods that you would like to have are great additions too.

3, Reach out to volunteer.  Substitutes are needed to work at the pantry or to pick up food in San Jose or Scotts Valley or Mt Bible once a week.  Thanks to Jan Parker and Deanna Arnold for your help this month too.  It takes a village!
