Message from Rev Melanie for July 2021

I am about to do a new thing;
   now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
--Isaiah 43:19

I am writing to you as I prepare to be on vacation for two weeks of glorious rest and renewal.  I look forward to returning to you on June 28 around the time this is published and preparing to worship outside at the church on July 4.  Almost immediately on my return I will begin serving Skyland full time, for which I am very grateful.  I look forward to having more time to spend with you and more time to devote to the big questions of what it means to be Skyland Community Church going forward.

Of course I won't be considering these big questions and coming up with big answers on my own.  This is work for all of us to discern what it means to be God's people, to be followers of Jesus, in our place and in our time.

Hybrid worship outdoors and full-time ministry are two more changes in what has been a long, long season of changes for you all and changes for me, but we have weathered the many changes we have already made with great faith and spirit, and we have thrived.  I am sure that this will continue and that we will continue to seek and to find our role in the mountain community.

A new thing is (once again) springing forth.  Let us open our eyes to perceive it and our hearts to receive it.

Beginning on July 5, Rev. Melanie will work Sunday through Thursday and her days off will be on Friday and Saturday.  She will be spending more time at the church, but if you want to be sure you will see her please make an appointment by emailing her at revmelanieweiner@skylandchurch.com, calling the church at (408)353-1310, or calling or texting her cell phone at (408)307-3709 (after she returns from vacation).

As we return to being present at the church more often, let's please remember that we need to drive carefully in the parking lot.  There are some tight turns and places where visibility is difficult.  There are parked cars and people walking in the parking lot.  We all need to be careful.
