Mission Board News November 2021

       Skyland  Church sponsors local families at CT English Middle School, Loma Prieta Elementary School and other families in need for the holiday season.  This year is especially important due to all the changes necessary during this pandemic. Can you dig a little deeper and help those neighbors in need? The felt Giving Tree in Whitaker Hall has been our way of showing the generosity of our church community and our neighbors.   Gift cards will be bought for children's gifts and for family meals for the holidays.   At Skyland Church in Whitaker Hall we decorate the tree with a felt ball to symbolize your gift of $50.  Money will be collected  November  14 - Nov 28th so our school families can shop for Christmas in advance. Last year, thanks to the generosity of our members, our mountain neighbors and a matching donor, we raised almost $5,000 for each of the 15 families we supported who got $100 Safeway, $100 Gr...

‘Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.  For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 As we move from spring into summer, changes are coming!  Assuming that Covid-19 case numbers stay low in Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties, we look forward to worshiping outside beginning on July 4!  We will be seated at least six feet apart and masked, but we will be able to be together for the first time in 16 months.  What we have waited for, hoped for, asked for will come.  We will also broadcast via Zoom for people who have difficulty getting to church and for those who live far away.    Look for more information in the coming weeks. Food Pantry Update July 2021

  Little Food Pantry Updates June brought us heat and we realized that the food goes quicker than usual.  Refrigeration is key to keeping things fresh.  Our volunteers are key to keeping the two outside refrigerators stocked.  We learned that the basement of the church can add a couple of weeks to our fresh veggies and fruits from expiring.  We take food from inside to outside every day as it is always being use.  If you want to help, please join one of our volunteers at their times.  They will appreciate it very much as they have being dining this work for almost a year.  Amazing.   A huge thanks to all of the helpers that come every week to do this: Monday-        5 pm- Bonnie Cloyd Tuesday-       5 pm- Terrie Landini Wednesday- 12:30- Janet Davies, Shannon Edwards, Melinda Malloy Thursday-     10 am- Dawn Hooper and Jeanne Tillman Friday-        ...
